Detroit pizza specialists Corner Slice will be making its city centre debut next month with the opening of a brand new restaurant.

Hailed as the people who brought the Detroit pizza to Manchester in the first place, Corner Slice has made quite the name for itself in its flagship restaurant in Failsworth thanks to its huge slabs of deep pan pizza.

As per Detroit tradition, each pizza is cooked in steel pans shipped in directly from Washington and with dough that they prove overnight; this gives the pizzas that lovely, soft and airy crust with a crispy exterior and caramelised cheese edges.

Corner Slice also boasts an impressive menu of both traditional and experimental toppings, varying from the Detroiter, which consists of a classic blend of pepperoni, red sauce and cheese, all the way to the more unconventional Korean Cauli, made with spiced cauliflower, salt and pepper onions, gochu red sauce and sweet mayo.

There’s also a vegan option, the Veggie Special, consisting of vegan sausage, piquillo peppers, pickled raisins and harissa roasted broccoli.

As you can see, it certainly isn’t a bold claim to say Detroit style pizza is giving the current craze for Neapolitan pizza a serious run for its money, so it is the perfect timing for Corner Slice to make its move into the big city.

The brains behind the pies have confirmed this week that they will be making the big move into the city centre in February, adding a dark kitchen to their venue in Failsworth and expanding their ‘radius’.

This means that their delivery service and tasty slices will open up to thousands more people across the city eager to get onboard the Detroit pizza trend.

An exact date is yet to be confirmed for their city centre delivery service, so make sure to follow them on Instagram to stay posted with news and updates.

If you’ve ever fancied enjoying some incredible tapas in a cave then we’ve got just the place for you to explore.

La Cueva is an iconic ‘cave-like’ restaurant in Cheadle’s Old Rectory Gardens, and it’s just reopened after an extensive refurbishment which saw the venue double in size.

The authentic Spanish tapas bar has been in the heart of Cheadle for years, gaining cult status for its incredible salt cave interior, which features cascading walls and ceilings filled with pink Himalayan salt lamps.

However, it’s not just the interior that entices customers back for more – La Cueva’s mouthwatering menu of traditionally prepared tapas is all made fresh in house.

The diverse range of dishes hail from all regions of Spain, and includes Empanadas – oven baked pastry filled with minced lamb, beef, bell peppers, onion, garlic and olives – and special imported Chorizo.
