Some fantastic winter news for you all to sink your teeth into: Aldi has brought back its iconic hot chocolate Christmas mug melts.
In what could be the best timing ever (because it’s now bloody freezing out there), the budget supermarket is now selling the tasty mug melts with two very cute new characters.
This years mug melts feature the familiar snowman design from last year, and the new penguin and unicorn designs, with each hot chocolate melt being available in stores now for just £1.25 a pop.
All you need to do is sit the melts in your mug, add steaming hot milk and watch them dissolve into a wonderfully thick and creamy hot chocolate – perfect for the many freezing evenings we’re all set to endure over the next few months.
The mug melts also come in 100% plastic-free packaging – what’s not to love?! To get your hands on some, you can either visit your local Aldi or visit the Aldi website.
Though this isn’t the only thing Aldi are doing this Christmas – earlier this month, the supermarket launched their annual Christmas advert where they revealed they’d partnered up with Man United star Marcus Rashford to donate 1.8 million meals to families over the festive period.
This years advert, which has taken inspiration from Charles Dickens’ festive classic A Christmas Carol, centres around new character, Ebanana Scrooge, who holds a passionate dislike for Christmas after being rejected by Santa for a mince pie as a baby banana.
Old favourite Kevin the Carrot also returns as the Ghost of Christmas Past and, in a first, Rashford makes a brief cameo as the footballer radish, Marcus Radishford.
Rashford said of his partnership in a statement: “As a family, we relied on the local food bank to get our Christmas dinner. To this day, I remember queuing outside that building with mum, mum feeling embarrassed that she might be recognised. It is with that in mind that I’m delighted to lend my support to the Aldi campaign.
“For many children in situations like mine growing up, there is very little expectation around this time of year; add the impact of the pandemic and the very least they deserve is a Christmas dinner.”

This could be the most wholesome Sunday activity ever…
Sundays are all about roast dinners, dog walks and copious amounts of booze, and there’s now the perfect combination of all three right here in Manchester.
The city’s resident South American inspired restaurant Peru Perdu has unveiled its brand new bottomless Sunday roast offer that comes complete a miniature ‘doggy roast’ for your four-legged companion.
Peru Perdu serves its own take on a roast, with a choice between Churrasco Picanha – thirty-six-hour slow cooked beef – and Pollo tigre de lêche – tiger milk-soaked roasted chicken.
Both these roasts come with all the good stuff, including Yorkshire puddings, seasonal vegetables, roast potatoes, and lashings of truffle gravy.
And those dining with their dogs can order a FREE doggy roast, with the same choice of beef and chicken roasts.
All doggy roasts are served in suitable dishes with a complimentary side of veggies and bone gravy.
Peru Perdu also offer their human guests the choice to upgrade to a bottomless roast for an extra £25, giving them unlimited Bloody Marys throughout the duration of their visit.
There are two Bloody Marys on the menu; the Verdita Bloody Mary made with Pisco, verdita, tomato juice, spices and lemon, and the Red Snapper, made with Maté-infused Canaima gin, tomato juice, spices and lemon.
And that isn’t all on the Peru Perdu lineup; on the last Saturday of every month, the venue hosts an explosive bottomless drag brunch.
For £45 per person, guests are welcomed by the restaurant’s queens and poured bottomless Chandon Garden Spritz for ninety minutes. There, they can enjoy two courses cooked in front of them at the open kitchen.

Greater Manchester chippies are giving away FREE fish and chips this August
Fancy a free chippy tea?
Hundreds of chippy teas across Greater Manchester will be reimbursed throughout August as part of a scheme to help small businesses with the cost of living crisis.
Sarson’s Vinegar has officially launched its #SarsonsFryday campaign, which will see hundreds of dinners be reimbursed for the remaining summer weeks.
The scheme was launched to extend a helping hands to struggling chippies across both Greater Manchester and the rest of the country amid the ongoing cost of living crisis.
To claim their free dinner, all customers will need to do is take a photo of their order and share it onto Twitter or Instagram with the tag @SarsonsUK and hashtag #SarsonsFryday.
To be valid, all entries must ensure they are following the Sarson’s official social media channels to be considered, and must have proof of purchase via a receipt for their meal.
Eastenders actor and chippy tea enthusiast Adam Woodyatt teamed up with the company to make the scheme a reality. He said: “#SarsonsFryday is a fantastic way to reward the loyal customers who keep our fish and chip shops open for business.
“It’s fair to say I know a thing or two about running a fish bar, and I encourage everyone to head to their nearest chippy and get their order in pronto, you never know it might be free!”
Bryan Carroll, Deputy Chief Operating Officer of Sarson’s, added: “The rising cost of living means we’re naturally all looking for ways to cut down our expenses, and sadly, one of the first thing that consumers cut back on is meals out and takeaways, leaving many of our favourite chippies at risk.

You can now get an Aperol Spritz burger in Manchester
The burger features a delicious Aperol hot honey butter marinade
To mark the arrival of summer appropriately, a restaurant here in Manchester has launched what could be the world’s first Aperol Spritz burger.
The Italian apéritif is a huge hit among Mancunians during the summer months, and is most commonly enjoyed as a spritz with gallons of prosecco.
But now, the orange-flavoured liqueur has been used in a whole new way to make what could be the biggest burger of the summer.
Fat Hippo, situated within the Great Northern Warehouse, has today launched its Aperol Spritz chicken burger ready for the summer months.
The one-of-a-kind burger features crispy buttermilk chicken in an Aperol hot honey butter, gem lettuce, parmesan crunch, cheesy garlic bacon crumb, and a creamy Caesar dressing, all encased within a seeded brioche bun.
The burger, priced at £13.50, also comes with a portion of seasoned fries.
But diners wanting to enjoy a truly Italian meal can upgrade their burger with Caesar Fries -loaded with Caesar dressing and a cheesy garlic bacon crumb – for an extra £1.50.
And, of course, Aperol Spritz cocktails can be ordered for the perfect pairing.
Managing Director and founder of Fat Hippo, Mike Phillips, said of the collaboration: “We’re big fans of an Aperol Spritz so when it came to thinking of a new special to celebrate the summer, this was a no-brainer.
