If you’ve ever wanted to watch a live autopsy then we’ve got just the thing for you, as the VIVIT experience comes to town next month.
VIVIT is the world’s only live post mortem experience, in which you get a rare chance to see what our insides look like after we pass.
The autopsy isn’t with a real human body, instead it’s a life-size synthetic cadaver with an anatomy that is of swine origin – identical in size and structure to a human one.
A group of doctors, experts and PhD researchers will be there to dissect the body, while you embark on a mission to solve the mystery of how the ‘John Doe’ died.
Starting with the opening of the cranial cavity, the dissection explores the inner structures of the head, nasal cavities and neck area, before working down the body to the thoracic cavity, which is peeled back as the heart, lungs and diaphragm are explored.
It then gets to the vertebral cavity, which is opened so the spinal cord can be removed, before the digestive tract is examined in detail, revealing the functions of the stomach, liver, gallbladder, colon and anus.

Heaton Park’s lakeside dining domes unveil evening picnic sessions for the summer
The perfect way to spend those long summer nights
With the summer in full swing, Heaton Park’s luxury lakeside dining domes have unveiled brand new menus ideal for the warmer weather.
The domes have proved to be hugely popular with visitors since their debut last year, and now boast shaded glazing and air conditioning, making them the ideal spot to soak up the rays.
And this month has seen the launch of the Heaton Park Summer Picnic package, which allows guests to enjoy a summery picnic feast late into the evening.
On the menu, diners can expect Heaton Park’s take on all the picnic classics, including roasted cauliflower Mac & Cheese with a molten camembert, free-range Heaton Scotch Egg and a homemade signature Sage and Onion Sausage Roll.
There is also a selection of delicious salads, from Mediterranean pearl couscous salad, a classic Caesar salad and the Harissa Chickpea and Orange salad.
But the real stars of the show are the sweet offerings, which include indulgent chocolate-filled Churros served with vanilla ice cream, chocolate orange Sauce and cookie crumble, plus a homemade scone with vanilla clotted cream and champagne strawberries.
Each picnic session offers a children’s menu and a vegan menu, and runs later than the park’s usual slots until 7pm.
The Dining Domes’ usual Afternoon Tea package will also be available throughout the day, with a menu carefully curated by Heaton Park’s cafes to offer the perfect balance of quintessential classics – as well as some imaginative variations of afternoon tea favourites.
The traditional signature menu includes a selection of delicious sandwiches, a free-range Heaton Scotch Egg and a homemade signature Sage and Onion Sausage Roll.
Sweet offerings include a homemade chocolate brownie with salted caramel ganache, a freshly baked Victoria Sponge, house scones with homemade jam and vanilla chantilly and a baked meringue with pineapple and passionfruit.

An axe-throwing bottomless brunch is coming to Manchester this month

A new bottomless brunch deal with the enthralling combination of unlimited cocktails and axe-throwing is coming to Manchester this month.
While Manchester boasts an already impressive bottomless brunch scene, Whistle Punks is set to bring the ‘most visceral bottomless brunch in the UK’ to the city this August bank holiday weekend.
Whistle Punk’s Sunday Sessions will include an epic seventy-minute-long axe-throwing competition, followed by bottomless pizza and booze.
The drinks will be free-flowing for the full two-hour time slot, with guests being able to choose from a selection of Whistle Punks Lager, Bloody Marys, Aperol Spritz, prosecco and a range of soft drinks.
On the food menu will be a range of freshly prepared pizzas, with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options available.
And in their commitment to guest safety, Whistle Punks will ensure each axe throwing session is led by an instructor with a brief masterclass. Guests will also be limited to one drink at a time.

Sunday Sessions will take place at 11:20am, 12:40pm, 2pm, and 3:20pm every week from Sunday August 28th onwards. Each party can enjoy seventy minutes of axe throwing followed by fifty minutes of bottomless pizza. Drinks will be bottomless throughout the whole booking, which will cost just £30 per person.

Huge Spanish festival with tapas and a giant paella is coming to Manchester
There will be dancing, live music and authentic tapas across the event
Manchester is set to welcome a taste of Español with the arrival of a huge festival with dancing, live music and the very best food the country has to offer.
Flamenco Fever will be taking over Kampus for one day only this weekend, where it will pay homage to the Spanish culture and cuisine.
The event will adopt an open-mic format, inviting guests to take to the stage and show off their best flamenco dance moves to music by guest flamenco musicians and singers, Carlos Van Tongeren, Jose Manuel Benzepon, Jack McCarthy, and Tom Metcalfe.
Dance teachers will be on hand throughout the event to show guests a thing or two and, of course, to get the full audience involved.
And it wouldn’t be a Spanish festival without good food, would it?
Ramsbottom’s very own Levanter Fine Foods, which currently resides in The Bungalow at Kampus, will be serving up its menu of authentic Spanish cuisine, including delicious tapas and a giant paella.
