NQ64 is opening a second Manchester city centre site, and they’re on the hunt for some voluntary games and beer testers prior to the official opening on June 21st.

The popular Northern Quarter haunt opened back in 2019, and it has gone from strength to strength ever since.

The retro arcade game bar has since sprouted sites in various different cities across the country, such as Liverpool, Edinburgh and Birmingham.

The new Manchester venue, located in the former Club LIV site next door to Alberts Schloss on Peter Street, will have all those wonderfully familiar NQ64 qualities – nostalgia, retro gaming, cocktails – but this time, there will be a bigger bar area, more seating and a larger variety of games.

Guests can still expect to find the old favourites such as Pac-Man, Time Crisis 2 and Guitar Hero, as well as some new additions such as a Mario Kart arcade game, Time Crisis 3 and NBA Jam

There’s the same token system in place to play, as well as free to play classic consoles including N64, MegaDrive, original PlayStations, GameCube and Super Nintendo.

Alongside games is a drinks list with specially selected beer including independent local brewers and a new themed cocktail list featuring NQ64 classics such as Princess Peach, Bubble Bobble and Pacs a Punch.

Retro bags of crisps will still be on offer, obviously.

There will be free drinks and merchandise for the first fifty guests who arrive during the first two days of their opening week (June 21st and June 22nd), but, more importantly, there will be the opportunity for a lucky few to test the games prior to the launch.

The bar’s owners are looking for volunteers on June 17th, June 18th, and June 19th to come and test their games – they will, of course, be paid handsomely in beer.
