New tourism campaign is giving people a free night’s hotel stay in Manchester

A new campaign is giving people an extra night’s free stay in hotels across Greater Manchester.

It’s no secret that the tourism, hospitality and leisure industries all took a hit throughout the pandemic, and that getting them back on their feet is going to be a real challenge.

Tourism was worth £9 billion to Greater Manchester’s economy in 2019, but Marketing Manchester estimates that at least 70% of that value has been lost since the Covid-19 pandemic began, resulting in over a £6 billion loss to the economy, as well as thousands of jobs across the tourism, hospitality, leisure, and culture sectors.

Marketing Manchester

Over the last twelve months, Marketing Manchester has been working towards building back the industries across Greater Manchester, and it seems their campaign, Have A Night On Us, may be the answer.

The campaign is targeting potential mini breakers and staycationers with an offer that encourages them to book at least two hotel nights in the city, and in exchange, they will receive an additional free night to extend their stay at partner hotels.

Marketing Manchester

Nine accommodation providers have so far confirmed they are taking part in the campaign including: The Edwardian Manchester, Kimpton Clock Tower, The Lowry Hotel, Hotel Brooklyn, Stock Exchange Hotel, The Ainscow Hotel, Holiday Inn Manchester City Centre, and both of Manchester’s Roomzzz properties.

Additional hotels will be joining the campaign over the coming weeks and months.

Sheona Southern, Managing Director of Marketing Manchester, said: “Our ‘Have a Night on Us’ campaign looks to address the current shortfall in hotel bookings by working with accommodation partners to offer attractive deals that we hope visitors will take up in order to enjoy an extended summer break in Greater Manchester this summer.

Marketing Manchester

“We are now more optimistic about recovery and there is a great deal to look forward to as Greater Manchester returns with a packed calendar of new openings and developments within the tourism economy. It is, however, going to take time for confidence to return.”

In order to take part in the incentive, bookings are required. They can be made here on visitmanchester.com.

Manchester's Finest Group & The Black Friar

The Black Friar is hosting an Easter ‘Eggstravaganza’ family-fun day with plenty of child friendly activities and a spring menu for all to enjoy.

The Black Friar pub in Salford will be holding an Easter ‘Eggstravaganza’ family-fun day next month in their award-winning spring garden.

The jam-packed, fun-filled day will take place on Saturday April 8th between 10am and 2pm, with two time slots available to book at the historic landmark, located on the corner of Blackfriars Road.

The day will be in support of Kidscan, a local children’s cancer research charity, also based in Salford. Kidscan invests in research dedicated to either improving existing treatments for childhood cancers, developing new drug delivery systems, or finding the next generation of targeted treatments.

The Black Friar

The Black Friar wrote: “We’re extremely grateful and excited to be working with this wonderful charity – we hope your support will aid and raise more awareness of their work.”

The event will include a chocolate Easter egg hunt, kids’ DJ, charity tombola, bubble blowing, arts and crafts table, face painting and more, all aimed to keep your little ones entertained while you enjoy the (hopefully) sunny weather in the Black Friar’s lovely spring garden.

The outdoor kitchen and bar will be open serving freshly made flatbreads, breakfast rolls, juices and coffee as well as alcoholic beverages — in case you feel like treating yourself to a little tipple over the long weekend.
