Comedian Jason Manford is set to headline a charity event at The Oast House next year.

‘Howl for the Bowel’ will be in memory of Manford’s long-time friend Michelle Mullane – a former XFM and Key 103 radio presenter who passed away on Christmas Eve 2020 from bowel cancer at the age of fifty.

Salford-born Manford first met the radio host over a decade ago when she invited him onto her show, Michelle Around Midnight to chat about his up-and-coming comedy career.

To this day, the comedian still credits Michelle with giving him his first big break on the airwaves and helping him to carve out a successful career in comedy.

He said: “Michelle was such a dear friend and helped me before I was anyone.

“She gave a lot of comedians their first chance of being on the radio and all my times I spent with her I only remember laughter. So it feels fitting to help put this show together in her honour.”

The show will take the format of a festival-style event, with an exciting line-up in store which will include resident DJs, musicians and a number of special guests.

The event – which was originally scheduled for 2020 – was actually Michelle’s idea, however, it was forced to be rescheduled at the hands of the pandemic.

Michelle’s daughter, Liv Winter said: “I am thrilled to be able to announce my mum’s pride and joy – Howl for the Bowel. She worked extremely hard on this event despite being so poorly and I am honoured to continue her legacy. The fact it’s happening on her birthday makes it even more poignant.

“My mum made me promise the event would go ahead no matter what, so this big announcement is for her. Everyone involved in this project wants to make my mum proud, so we can’t wait to reveal the rest of the line-up over the coming year.”

The event is penciled in for April 18th, 2022 and tickets are now on sale, with prices starting at £35pp. All profits made from ticket sales and fundraising will be donated to Cancer Research UK.

Stockport’s free, one-day Christmas festival is returning this festive season, with 200 performers and more than 50 shows.

Spectacular Sunday will return to the town on November 17th at various sites and venues.

Following the success of last year’s event, hundreds of performers will take over Stockport, with everything from giant roller-skating presents to a living snow globe and roaming Christmas dolls.

There will also be street theatre, including grumpy Christmas grandads, a gigantic balloon man and water show.

Produced by carnival arts organisation Global Grooves and organised by Stockport Council, Totally Stockport, Merseyway and Stockport Market, the town centre will be buzzing with Christmas excitement.

Events will be happening in iconic Stockport locations like Market Place, Underbanks, Merseyway, Redrock and Suffragette Square.

A grand finale in Merseyway will bring together the brass bands of Stockport, ending the day with a huge flash mob and rendition of All You Need Is Love.

Urban Playground has taken things to the next level, revealing three brand new games for thrill-seekers to sink their teeth into.

The Manchester Arndale entertainment venue, which is already home to an impressive array of games, has added even more fun to the line up.

From mini golf to arcade games and loads of food and drink, Urban Playground has everything you need for an incredible day out.

They’ve now added three new games to The Cube Live experience, ahead of the upcoming Christmas party season.

‘Pass’, ‘Exit’ and ‘Locate’ are the three new nail-bitingly tense games, and you’ll recognise them all from TV.

In Pass, two players rapidly weave a foam brick back and forth between free-standing poles, avoiding knocking the poles over as they go – requiring agility and great communication.

Exit sees two players work together manoeuvring a ball out of a maze testing their patience to the max.

Lastly, Locate is a single player game where players must memorise an illuminated white square’s location, before placing a block on it while blindfolded.

They’re all deceptively straightforward, while also fiendishly addictive, and perfect for a team day out.

Get booked in HERE to try the new games for yourself.
