Camelot Theme Park is now open as an immersive zombie experience and drive-in cinema
Camelot is back and it’s looking a little different…
The iconic Camelot Theme Park is now open as a terrifyingly immersive zombie cinema experience.
Despite its overwhelming success throughout the years, the owners of Lancashire’s Camelot Theme Park closed the park down for good in 2012, putting bad weather and large events like the Olympics to blame for dwindling visitor numbers.
For a decade the medieval-themed park has stood eerily abandoned, with statues slowly crumbling and old buildings and rides falling victim to vandalism and graffiti.
But now, the park is getting a new – and somewhat sinister – lease of life.
The brains behind Manchester’s Park N Party Drive In Cinema have launched Camelot Rises, a terrifying film event with real-life zombies, all set within the grounds of the abandoned theme park.
The interactive zombie experience features a whole display of lights, sounds and live actors, all of which will make you truly believe to be in the thick of a zombie apocalypse.

Movies on the bill include classics such as The Hills Have Eyes, The Crazies, A Quiet Place, Evil Dead 2013, 28 Days Later and Get Out.
The event’s official description reads: “Something deadly has destroyed the legendary world of Camelot… Now overrun by zombies hungry for human flesh.
“As the army struggle to keep control of the area, it’s time to see if you can survive this gruesome night of post-apocalyptic horror.”
You’ll also be able to make a full night out of Camelot Rises thanks to a fully licensed bar and a range of food vendor options, all of which will be available on site (unlike the other inhabitants, you won’t have to settle for brains).
It’s not for the faint-hearted, however, with the event warning: “Please be aware – this event is not for the faint of heart. There will be flashing lights, loud noises, smoke, fake gore, zombie attacks, and much more.
“As such, please bear this in mind before attending the event. Should someone who is likely to suffer as a result of the above ignore this warning, we will not be liable for this.”
Camelot Rises launched back on February 5th, with films showing until Sunday March 6th (it’s I Am Legend, The Cured, Insidious 2 and The Ring this weekend).

The Black Friar hosting HUGE Easter egg hunt to raise money for kid’s cancer charity
This looks eggcellent!
The Black Friar is hosting an Easter ‘Eggstravaganza’ family-fun day with plenty of child friendly activities and a spring menu for all to enjoy.
The Black Friar pub in Salford will be holding an Easter ‘Eggstravaganza’ family-fun day next month in their award-winning spring garden.
The jam-packed, fun-filled day will take place on Saturday April 8th between 10am and 2pm, with two time slots available to book at the historic landmark, located on the corner of Blackfriars Road.
The day will be in support of Kidscan, a local children’s cancer research charity, also based in Salford. Kidscan invests in research dedicated to either improving existing treatments for childhood cancers, developing new drug delivery systems, or finding the next generation of targeted treatments.
The Black Friar wrote: “We’re extremely grateful and excited to be working with this wonderful charity – we hope your support will aid and raise more awareness of their work.”
The event will include a chocolate Easter egg hunt, kids’ DJ, charity tombola, bubble blowing, arts and crafts table, face painting and more, all aimed to keep your little ones entertained while you enjoy the (hopefully) sunny weather in the Black Friar’s lovely spring garden.
The outdoor kitchen and bar will be open serving freshly made flatbreads, breakfast rolls, juices and coffee as well as alcoholic beverages — in case you feel like treating yourself to a little tipple over the long weekend.
Bookings are also available for lunch if you want to make a day of it and enjoy the spring a la carte menu.
