While Love Island is famous for starring young contestants from the social media generation, a brand new concept is in the works.

A Love Island spin-off featuring middle-aged stars is currently being planned by TV bosses, featuring single mums and dads looking for love.

The news series will reportedly feature single parents in their 40s and 50s with ‘normal bodies’, who are set up by their kids in their quest for love.

The show currently has a working title of ‘Your Mum, My Dad’, and according to reports could hit our screens in 2023.

A TV source told The Sun: “Times change and the current generation in their 40s and 50s still care about how they look, are fit and healthy, into fashion and are ready to let their hair down.

“This show will give those who settled down young a second chance at love while they still feel in their prime.

“And, let’s face it, they know their minds, will be capable of intelligent conversation and are likely to be much more adventurous — all ingredients regular Love Island sometimes lacks.”

The source went on to say this new show will be a different experience to the original series, due to the contestants being more mature.

This new format has been thought up by Love Island maker Lifted Entertainment, who hope the pilot will lead to a full series.
