People were left baffled over the weekend after a woman shared a photo of the somewhat questionable meal she was served while dining in a restaurant in London’s elusive The Shard.

The woman, known only as ‘R’ on Twitter, tweeted a photo of the meal she received in the restaurant Ting, which featured three small pieces of food alongside a bowl of rice and a bowl of chips.

She captioned the photo: “guys look at my £30 meal i got at the shard”, with a series of love heart eye emojis for a sarcastic measure. She also revealed that ‘the fries were £5 extra’ and that the noticeably small portion wasn’t a starter, but her main course.

The hungry customer also pointed out that she hadn’t eaten anything all day because she ‘thought she was going be eating food at the shard.’

Of course, Twitter users couldn’t believe what they were seeing, with many questioning whether it was even edible food at all. One person wrote: “I’d actually cry… imagine skipping lunch cos you know you’re going shard and this is what they come out with for £30. My condolences.”

Another noted: “I’ve seen all my friends Facebook posts of the restaurants in the shard I’m not going any time soon !! Plus I’m broke and hate heights na I’m good there’s far better restaurants out there and the food’s delicious.”

A third simply wrote: “there’s more plate than food.”

However, a fourth user had a different perspective and wrote: “Do you understand how much a building like the Shard costs to build, how much property is inside it and how limited the space is? You could have looked at the menu before. Obviously, you’re going to be paying a premium. No one forced you to go there.”

She later revealed that the unrecognisable object on the right hand side of her plate was, in fact, a chicken breast and not a burned piece of toast or a flattened jacket potato, as some Twitter users suggested.

The Shard cost £1.2bn to build, and is currently the tallest building in the country, with it standing 309.6 metres tall.
