Police descended on Manchester Airport on Sunday morning after a gun was found in hold luggage.
Officers stormed Terminal 2 on Sunday, September 3rd, at around 10.45am after the discovery was made by staff in a passenger’s luggage.
A gun was seized and a man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm. He has now been charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition by police.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police initially said: “At around 10:45 am this morning (Sunday 3rd September 2023), officers were called to reports of a possible firearm being found in hold luggage by airport staff at Manchester Airport.
“After initial inspection by security staff, GMP officers attended, and the firearm was seized.
“Subsequently, a man has been arrested for possession of a firearm and remains in custody for further questioning.”
They then followed up with further details, writing on Facebook: “Man charged with possession of firearm and ammunition after it was found by airport staff in hold luggage at Manchester Airport.
“At around 10:45am on Sunday 3 September 2023, officers were called to reports of a possible firearm being found in hold luggage by airport staff at Manchester Airport.
“After initial inspection by security staff, GMP officers attended, and the firearm was seized. Subsequently, a 53-year-old man was arrested for possession of a firearm and was taken to custody for further questioning.
“Brian McIntyre (01/07/1970) from the United States of America was later charged with possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition for a firearm without a certificate. McIntyre attended Stockport Magistrates court this morning where he was further remanded into custody.
“He is next due to appear at Manchester Crown Court on Monday 9 October 2023.”
McIntyre is Chris Eubank Jr’s boxing trainer, and had been in the country to oversee Eubank Jr’s win over Liam Smith at Manchester Arena on Saturday.
