The wife of a missing grandad who left his home to go for a walk but never came back, two months ago, has issued a heartfelt plea for him to come home to his ‘distraught’ family.

Peter Baglin, 55, from Boothstown in Worsley, left home on December 28th to go on his usual canal side walk. Peter was captured on CCTV footage at a Texaco garage along the East Lancashire Road, in Mosley Common where he purchased a small bottle of whiskey at 7.38pm — this would be his last known sighting.

He last spoke to his wife Michelle at 8.15pm, telling her that he was going for a walk along the Bridgewater Canal. The following day police found his phone, keys and bank card at the bottom of the embankment. His family have been left heartbroken, with no answers as to what happened him ever since.

Speaking to ITV, Michelle said: “I was like, ‘where are you?’ and I knew something was not right.

“The next day they found his headphones and I knew something was up. His son bought him those and he would not have parted with them for the world.”

Since his disappearance, Michelle who works at Salford Royal hospital alongside her husband, has gathered the help of family, friends and strangers — made up of over 200 people — to organise searches of her own along the canal.

Asked what message she would like to send to Peter, Michelle replied: “I want you to come home. It doesn’t matter where you’ve been.

“All your family is missing you. Your mum is distraught. I am your world and you’re mine.”

Michelle’s last contact with Peter was on the phone where he told her he was clearing his head, he was coming home soon and he loved her.

Anyone who may have seen Peter, or who may have any other information regarding Peter’s whereabouts no matter how minute they think it could be, should contact Police on the switchboard 0161 856 8351 or 0161 856 7857, via 101. You can also speak to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
