If you’ve not had a holiday since before the first lockdown way back in March you’re probably starting to feel some serious cabin fever, and just want to get away to the sun to drink sangria and eat tapas all day.

Well, while you can’t do that right now, La Bandera is offering the next best thing, as they’ve reintroduced their incredibly popular ‘Journey Through Spain‘ series of Taster Menus to sample at home.

That means that each week you can sample a unique five-course taster menu from different regions of Spain, all to be enjoyed within the comfort of your own home.

Starting this week (November 13th, 14th and 15th), your Journey Through Spain begins in the ‘Wild North‘ with dishes specially inspired by the rolling hills, green pastures and wild seas of the north, including influences from the Basque region and the forests and mountains of the Pyrenees.

The ‘Wild North’ menu includes Galician Octopus served on a bed of roast potatoes, Homemade White Bean Stew with chorizo and Spanish black pudding, Seabass with Garlic, Chilli and Spanish Paprika, Slow-cooked Oxtail and finished with a traditional homemade Almond Cake.

The five-course tasting menu for two costs just £50 and comes with a bottle of wine to share. You can alternatively order the experience with a wine flight, offering you paired wines with every course, for just £80.

A full five-course restaurant taster menu experience, with wine flight for just £40 each? Not bad at all!

Following on from the ‘Wild North’ this weekend, each subsequent week will feature a new region of Spain to explore, from the Canary Islands (20th, 21st, 22nd) to the Mediterranean Sea (27th, 28th, 29th).

The journey will come to an end on the weekend of December 4th with a ‘La Bandera Special‘ – a selection of the restaurant’s very best and most popular dishes, all expertly paired with wines and prepared for you at home.

Each Tasting Menu is available for delivery or collection from the La Bandera website (below). If you want to purchase them all you can do – for £230 with wine or £345 with wine flights.

If you purchase all four Journey Through events, La Bandera will give you one of their coveted ‘VIP Cards’, which offers you fantastic deals, freebies and loads more when the restaurant is back fully open again.

A single Big Mac will set you back £3.29, while a meal with a drink and side will cost £4.49, although prices do vary in different locations.

In even better news, you can get the free nuggets when you order the brand new double Big Mac from the Christmas menu, which will cost you £4.19 for the burger or £5.69 for a meal.

The deal will run from next Monday, November 23rd, until the Friday, November 27th, and is available at all Maccies that use Just Eat – the fast food chain has 849 restaurants that are on the delivery service.

McDonald’s

All you have to do is add the Big Mac product of your choice to the basket and a pop-up will appear on the app asking you to claim the McNuggets – you can only claim one box of nugs per order.

Andrew Kenny, UK managing director of Just Eat said: “While our customers are hunting out the best Black Friday deals online, Just Eat is delighted to be able to deliver some extra joy to their homes.”

Whenever I order a Big Mac I always get some nugs on the side anyway, so I for one can’t wait for next week…

It’s great news for vegans who might often find themselves missing out on a delicious chippy tea.

The plant-based fish and chip butty will launch on November 20th – this Friday, the perfect day for chippy tea! – and will be the first of its kind in North Manchester.

Sansan is a sandwich delivery service operating in Prestwich offering all your favourite type of butties, from chicken fried steak to vegan VLT (pictured below).

Around half of the menu currently caters to vegans but the new Chippy T will be a welcomed and delicious addition.

The Vegan Chippy T is made with beer-battered banana blossom, mushy peas, homemade tartare sauce and a handful of salt and vinegar chips, served on a buttered English muffin.

Sam, chef and co-founder said: “We want to create vegan sandwiches that shouldn’t have to be compared to their meat alternatives, these are great stand-alone flavours in their own right.”

Sansan delivers Tuesday through to Friday in Prestwich and Whitefield. They’ve also got a weekend pop-up open for takeaway on Saturdays 12-5pm.
