Calling all gin lovers, this might just be your dream job.

The Local Gin Company is looking for two gin tasters to join the team working across eight regions in the UK.

You’ll have to taste the local and premium pink gins and provide honest feedback to the company’s Gin Selection Team. What a dream.

The tasters will have the honour of sipping on a glass of gin and tonic and simply need to provide feedback.

If the gin doesn’t pass the test based on your feedback, it won’t make the cut of being added to their boxes.

The ideal workers will be passionate about supporting local, where the gins are specially made.

If you fancy applying you’ll have to be quick as the application closes on December 31st. You’ll need to apply to taste dry gins within your region.

Luckily, the North West is one of the locations as well as North East, Yorkshire & The Humber, Midlands, East of England, South West, South East and London.

To apply simply fill out this form here where you’ll have to provide your full name, email, contact number and why you are the best candidate.

Of course, you must be over 18 to apply and a resident of England. Although it’s not a paid position, you will regularly receive gin to taste!

Local grocery service that delivers in 15 minutes or less launches in Manchester

The super easy way to get food and drink delivered

Weezy

Weezy is a brand-new on-demand grocery service that delivers in 15 minutes or under, and it has officially launched in Manchester today – just in time for a rare sunny weekend.

It offers a carefully curated range of over 2,000 high-quality products at retail prices, including alcoholic drinks, dairy, snacks, party games like Twister, and pharmacy products for emergency needs.

As well as working with wholesalers, Weezy also sources groceries from independent bakers, butchers and markets – meaning they’re always able to offer fresh, localised produce.

Weezy

To celebrate its arrival in Manchester, Weezy is proudly partnering with two quality local Manchester brands, Marble Brewery and Steep Soda Co, to run 2-for-1 promotions for this weekend only.

And if that’s not enough to pique your interest, the first 200 orders of £20 or more in Manchester will also get a FREE bottle of Bottega Gold Prosecco.

The offer runs from this Friday evening until Sunday at midnight, and the promocode – GOLD100 – is automatically available at checkout.

New Manchester customers can also get £10 off their first two orders at Weezy with the code: WELCOME10.

Weezy

Weezy launched back in July 2020, finding success in London, Bristol and Brighton – Manchester is the brand’s first location in the North of England.

Talking about the launch, Kristof Van Beveren, Co-founder and CEO of Weezy, said: “Manchester was the natural next choice for us.

“We know that it’s one of the most eco-friendly cities in the UK and that Manchester residents share our values.

“Our service helps to further reduce fresh food waste and packaging, and enable healthier lifestyles, with all groceries being sustainably delivered by bike or electric moped in a matter of minutes.”

Weezy

Weezy has also partnered with what3words to make every location easier to find and every delivery seamless.

This new partnership enables customers to order their groceries to wherever they happen to be, whether that’s a hard-to-find address or a bench in a local park.

Kristof added: “We’re excited to be offering our customers what they want, when they need it.

“With lockdown easing in the UK, we know that friends and family want to get together safely outside and we wanted to make it easy for them to get quality products anywhere.

Weezy

“Now they can meet for a picnic or a BBQ without having to carry anything there. Weezy can deliver a full shop or just some beers.”

He continued: “It’s convenience without compromise. Customers simply add in their what3words address at checkout and can sit back while they wait for their Weezy delivery.”

The Weezy app is available to download now, both on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

You can check out the website here, or stay up to date on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

It’s now officially open!

Manchester's Finest

You may remember that last month we brought you the news that The Refuge would be reopening on April 12th with a brand new courtyard area.

Called Waterhouse Way, the new heated and covered terrace is tucked away on a hidden street next to the venue.

The al-fresco dining area has now been completely redeveloped and is ready for food and drinks, with it opening on Monday along with the rest of hospitality for outdoor service.

Manchester’s Finest

The outdoor area is well-heated and completely covered with a huge fitted covering, making it one of a few places in the city that can remain open whatever the Mancunian weather throws at us.

The menu consists of the classic Volta travel-inspired small plates, including things like smoked feta with beetroot, hazelnuts, dill, and lamb shawarma.

Manchester’s Finest

They’ve even got some big sharers to get stuck into, like the massive Sunday roast platter for two which is available to order at the weekend.

There’s also a new dessert menu alongside some new additions to the drinks menu, including a special Refuge Lager.

Manchester’s Finest

Bookings are highly recommended to avoid disappointment, and you can make one here.

Each booking has a two-hour slot and food must be purchased along with drinks. Seats will be limited for the foreseeable future to allow for physical distancing.

Limited walk-ins available only during late evening at the weekend.

Lasagne is the food of the gods, cheesey, creamy pasta goodness that always hits the spot.

The one thing Manchester has been missing – besides a beach – is a dedicated lasagne spot, somewhere you can grab a huge slab of the good stuff for a proper scran.

Well, not for much longer will our city be missing such a spot, as Lazy Tony’s Lasagneria is coming to Manchester this week.

@weareallrobots / Instagram

Manchester’s lasagne dry spell is set to end this week with the official launch of Lazy Tony’s, the city’s first and only ‘slab shack’.

It’s set to become your new favourite place for a huge chunk of pasta, ragu and cheese, as well as freshly-baked focaccia bread, mozzarella sticks and even ‘Unofficially Officially The Best Tiramisu in the World‘.

@lazytonyslasagneria / Instagram

All of the pasta is made fresh daily, and Lazy Tony uses proper Italian tomatoes – there’s even a 100% vegan option on the menu.

But how do you get your hands on one, I hear you ask?

@lazytonyslasagneria / Instagram

Pre-orders will be going LIVE today, Wednesday, April 14th, ready for curbside pick up from Friday in Ancoats – Lazy Tony’s is currently operating on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

You can head on over to their Instagram here for all of the latest developments, or alternatively visit the website here.
