Stretford Mall is set to become even better, with the addition of a rooftop cinema, bar and terrace.

The terrace has now been given full permission by the council, after initially there were fears over ‘safety’.

Now, the top floor of the Mall’s car park will transform into a terrace for six months of the year, for two years, the Manchester Evening News reports.

A group named Up Top at Stretford Precinct tried to convince the council last month to turn it into a new social hub, but this sparked concerns over safety and the plan was put on ice.

After working with the council to fix any safety issues they might have had, the group has now been given the green light.

According to the MEN, the application was given full permission by the council’s planning and development management committee back on August 14th.

So now, the top floor of the Stretford Mall car park will turn into a brand new drinking spot for six months, with a cinema for one weekend of each month.

There will be a small bar area with temporary seating, alongside some shelter to keep punters dry in the inevitable Mancunian rain.

Heather Garlick is the woman behind the project, and she submitted the application to the council via her company, the Spirit of Essoldo.

The new venture will create some much needed jobs, with 15 part time staff and three full time members of staff working there.
