Peter Kay has announced a world-first residency at The O2 in London as he adds more dates to his comeback tour.

Over the weekend, the Bolton-born comedian revealed he would be heading back onto the road for his first UK tour in twelve years.

The nation-wide tour will begin with two homecoming gigs in Manchester on December 2nd and December 3rd.

From then until August 2023, Kay will then head out to venues across the UK and Ireland including Sheffield, Liverpool, Dublin, Cardiff and Belfast.

And following the response to his upcoming tour, Kay then announced a surprise monthly residency at The O2 as he co-hosted the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show with Zoe Ball.

This residency, which is the first of its kind in the arena’s history, will begin shortly after the Manchester gigs on Friday December 15th, and will run through until Saturday November 18th 2023.

Kay added that because of the cost of living crisis, he has ensured his tickets will go on sale at the same price as they were on his previous tour in 2010.

He said: “It’s good to get back to what I love doing best, stand-up comedy and if there’s ever a time people need a laugh it’s now.

“And with the cost of living at an all-time high, ticket prices are starting from £35. The same price they were on my previous tour in 2010.”

Kay took to social media to announce the news late on Sunday (November 6th) with a satirical video of him moving his mum’s new carpet while discussing the upcoming tour and its dates.

He said: “It’s good to get back to what I love doing best, stand-up comedy, and if there’s ever a time people need a laugh it’s now.”

His last tour was over a decade ago in 2010, which resulted in him securing the Guinness World Record for the biggest-selling run of all time, performing to a total of 1.2 million people.

Tickets go on sale this Saturday, November 12th. For more information on Peter Kay’s upcoming tour and to get tickets, visit his official website.
