The UK is set to get a massive theme park to rival Disneyland in size, and from the first pics it looks like it’s going to be mint. We’ve still got a few years to wait, however, as The London Resort isn’t expected to be finished until 2024. According to developers the £3.5 billion theme park – the first like this to be built in Europe since Disneyland Paris in 1992 – will be as big as 136 Wembley Stadiums.

It’s going to be located on a 535 acre site near Gravesend at the Swanscombe Peninsula, and construction starts in 2021, Kent Live reports. The resort is set to become one of the most ambitious projects of its kind in Europe, and it’s partnered up with Paramount Pictures, the BBC and ITV so they can use their brands and franchises in the park. It’ll open in two stages, the first in 2024 and the second in 2029, and will feature six islands with their own theme, including Starport, The Jungle, The Kingdom, The Woods, The Isles and The Studio.

There’ll also be a High Street complete with hotels, shops, restaurants, a convention centre, and even a waterpark. Starport will be a futuristic ‘23rd century landing zone’, complete with aliens and big rides, The Jungle island is set to feature ancient ruins pushing up through the trees, while The Kingdom is a legendary realm containing all the classic swords, dragons and sorcery you’d expect.
The Woods is an enchanted area steeped in fantasy and fairy tales, while The Isles will be full of mythical beasts and huge creatures, and The Studio is set to be a little different – a warehouse-themed district showing the biggest films. This is going to be so good!
