A huge rave to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the legendary Haçienda is set to take place at the site of where it all began.

The celebrations will be taking place in the basement carpark of the Haçienda apartments on Whitworth Street West, where the original club once stood.

Residents in the building have received letters detailing the plans and offering alternate parking options during the event, which will be taking place on Saturday May 21st, forty years to the day the nightclub first opened its doors in 1982.

Residents have reportedly been invited to join in with the celebrations.

While the musical lineup is yet to be announced, it has been confirmed that all proceeds from the event will be donated directly to charity.

A party was last held in the exact same spot in 2012 to mark the 30th anniversary of the club, with the club’s original co-owner Peter Hook joining a host of famous faces connected with the Haçienda from over the years.

Guests at the 30th anniversary event included the likes of Bez, Mark E Smith and original Haçienda DJs like Graeme Park, Jon DaSilva and Hewan Clarke.

While a guestlist is yet to be confirmed for this year’s event, we can presume many famous faces will be in attendance.

And this isn’t the only thing happening to mark the milestone anniversary; reports this morning revealed that the BBC has commissioned a one-off documentary on the legendary nightclub.

The documentary will combine rare and unseen archive with first-hand testimony from those who were involved during the Haçienda’s heyday to tell the story of how the famed nightclub transformed the UK’s music scene.

The documentary will air on BBC Two, though a broadcast date is yet to be confirmed.

The Haçienda, founded by Tony Wilson’s Factory Records and New Order, was at the forefront of Manchester’s music scene throughout the 1980’s and early 1990’s, and has been credited for the success of globally renown bands like The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays and Chemical Brothers.

Urban Playground has taken things to the next level, revealing three brand new games for thrill-seekers to sink their teeth into.

The Manchester Arndale entertainment venue, which is already home to an impressive array of games, has added even more fun to the line up.

From mini golf to arcade games and loads of food and drink, Urban Playground has everything you need for an incredible day out.

They’ve now added three new games to The Cube Live experience, ahead of the upcoming Christmas party season.

‘Pass’, ‘Exit’ and ‘Locate’ are the three new nail-bitingly tense games, and you’ll recognise them all from TV.

In Pass, two players rapidly weave a foam brick back and forth between free-standing poles, avoiding knocking the poles over as they go – requiring agility and great communication.

Exit sees two players work together manoeuvring a ball out of a maze testing their patience to the max.

Lastly, Locate is a single player game where players must memorise an illuminated white square’s location, before placing a block on it while blindfolded.

They’re all deceptively straightforward, while also fiendishly addictive, and perfect for a team day out.

Get booked in HERE to try the new games for yourself.
