COMING SOON: A Treehouse Hotel with rooftop bar is opening in Manchester

Manchester will soon play home to a brand new Treehouse Hotel, complete with a rooftop bar boasting stunning views of the city.

Treehouse Hotels, which operates existing spaces in North America, Asia and Europe, will be transforming the Renaissance Hotel down Deansgate.

The fifteen-storey tall building, originally constructed in 1972, has been labeled as an ‘eyesore’ for years now, with reports suggesting it has faced the threat of demolition since 2018.

But now, it is set to receive a whole new lease of life thanks to a £200m redevelopment courtesy of Treehouse Hotels.

Developers aim to fill the 216-room hotel with an ‘abundance of dappled light and the natural scent of pitch pine’, all with the aim to transport guests to their very own ‘secret forest’. 

There will also be a nod to the exclusive playfulness experienced as children, with hopscotch carpets, stepping-stones in lift lobbies, custom-designed space hoppers in the hotel gym, and the opportunity for visitors to carve their own stories into a central living wooden art piece that will grow with the hotel over time.

The existing Treehouse Hotel, located in London’s exclusive Marylebone neighbourhood, has received critical acclaim for its unique interior design, which includes real tree trunks entwined in the bathrooms, nature-inspired bedrooms and quirky decorations such as cuckoo clocks and an abundance of shrubbery – so we can expect some seriously good things from its Manchester venture.

For its culinary offerings, Treehouse Hotel Manchester will be collaborating with some of the best talent the North West has to offer, with three unique dining and drinking experiences including a top floor restaurant with dazzling views of the city, as well as a rooftop bar with views for miles.

Mary-Ellen McTague of The Creameries and Eat Well MCR will be taking over the ground floor restaurant, serving a zero-waste menu with a ‘modern twist on traditional cooking’.

Sam Grainger, the brains behind Liverpool restaurant Belzan and Manchester’s Madre and Carnival, will be taking over the fourteenth floor restaurant, offering diners a menu of inventive South East Asian dishes interwoven with British produce.

Sam will also be working with Volta founders and local DJs Luke Cowdrey and Justin Crawford to bring the fourteenth floor to life, who will curate activations in the Rooftop bar and the ground floor restaurant.
