Chester Zoo’s immersive light trail has officially opened to kick start the festive season and it looks spectacular.

Lanterns and Light is ‘bigger and brighter than ever’ as Chester Zoo have partnered with Sony  Music / RGL and Culture Creative to bring a spectacular immersive winter light trail, with a cool soundscape, for all the family to enjoy.

The popular light trail features some new additions with never before seen installations to make it extra special this year.

The trail’s new features include a 15 metre-long woolly 3D mammoth hologram, illuminated dolphins jumping through waterways, a walkway of gigantic pea lit animals and an impressive fire garden.

And what would a magical winter trail be without the chance to see Father Christmas in his sleigh?

The little ones get the chance to say ‘hello’ to Santa as he’s busy working away in his toy shop while they pass by.

Visitors can embark on a spellbinding journey through the zoo’s awesome light and soundscapes at the 128-acre premises right through the festive season, until December 31st.

They can also take an enchanted walk through the Winter Cathedral tunnel of lights and admire the dazzling displays set to delight the senses.

If you get a little hungry along the way or are in need of something to warm you up then there’s a dedicated Lanterns Food Village where visitors can tuck into sausages, burgers, Yorkshire pudding wraps as well as lots of sweet treats too.

There’s also a variety of refreshments including mulled wine, hot chocolate and plenty more.
