Chester Zoo has launched two fantastic family friendly events for the summer, including cinema evenings and tickets for after hours entry from £10.

The popular wildlife attraction is holding its Into The Night events where visitors get a rare glimpse into the lives of its 27,000 wild animals after the sun goes down and they come out to explore their habitats.

Visitors can walk around the 128-acre site during the hours it is normally closed to the public, so they get to see the animals in a different light as the sun sets on the conservation site.

As well as this rare opportunity, there will be some live entertainment with performers including animal-themed stilt walkers, dancers and acrobats.

But that’s not all. Over the school holidays the zoo has teamed up with The Luna Cinema for special outdoor screenings of favourites such as Grease, Top Gun: Maverick and The Greatest Showman.

Into The Night outdoor sunset cinema events are held from 4-9pm on selected dates from now until August 24th.

Chester Zoo’s customer development manager, Ellie Trigg, said: “The zoo is a totally different place as the sun starts set — for some animals it’s time to bed down while for others the night is only just beginning.

“Our special Into the Night event offers a rare chance for people to come and experience the awe and wonder of all the zoo has to offer in a completely different light.

“And as if seeing what your favourite animal gets up to when most people have gone home isn’t exciting enough, there’ll also be lots of entertainment, including acrobats, dancers and stilt-walkers.”

“With guest talks and appearances from a few well-known faces also on the line up, including wildlife filmmaker and presenter Bertie Gregory, it promises to be a wonderful summer,” she added.

“And best of all, the proceeds are going to help our charity zoo to protect some of the world’s most threatened species, making it a great night out that’s contributing to wildlife conservation.”

During the after hours events, all parts of the zoo will remain open, including animal habitats, tropical houses, indoor areas and the new immersive ‘out of water’ digital shark experience, Planet Shark: Predator or Prey.

Walking around can make you a bit hungry and thirsty, and visitors will be pleased to find that all of the zoo’s restaurants and kiosks will remain open serving up a variety of dishes and beverages for people to enjoy as they make an evening of it.

A limited number of tickets are available each evening. Prices start from £16 for adults and £10 for children aged 3-17, and children aged two and under go free for Into The Night.

All proceeds will go towards the not-for-profit conservation zoo’s vital efforts in helping wildlife to survive and thrive in the UK and around the world.
