Mancunians will soon be able to have their heads among the stars thanks to an immersive out-of-this-world space dome experience.

Journey Through The Night Sky will take wannabe astronomers on a spectacular adventure through the skies through software that simulates the Universe with breathtaking accuracy.

The immersive dome experience comes courtesy of the Jodrell Bank Centre for Astrophysics at the University of Manchester, and will be led by a team of expert speakers and presenters.

The dome show is held within Jodrell Bank’s custom built auditorium, which came as part of a £21.5m project aiming to open up the inspirational heritage of Jodrell Bank to even more people.

The state-of-the-art auditorium offers every visitor an immersive, audio-visual experience with a specially commissioned short film about the story of Jodrell Bank.

Audiences looking for a more traditional planetarium show can add on a thirty minute session which takes in the beauty and wonder of the night sky, guided by one of Jodrell’s experienced and knowledgable ‘Explainers’.

Jodrell Bank’s dome shows have proven to be hugely popular this year, with thousands of people visiting the First Light Pavilion instalment over the summer.
