A brand new park exclusively for dogs has opened in Greater Manchester today.

The secure venue will let dogs run free off-lead with no worries, with an agility course and lots of space for your furry friends to enjoy.

The new dog park has opened in Westhoughton over in Bolton, and has gone down a storm with local dog owners – its nearly fully booked for its first week already.

You can book the venue for an hour at a time and let your dogs enjoy the RSPCA-approved agility equipment, or just let them run around the two-acre park to their heart’s content with no worries.

The plot is surrounded by secure fencing, so you don’t have to worry about your dog running away or potential dog thieves.

The Westhoughton Dog Park has been set up by husband and wife team Donny and Dawn Janciauskas, whose normal business of buying and selling horses has been forced to stop because of the pandemic.

Dawn told Bolton News: “An enclosed area where dogs can run free is something that is missing in the area.

“Lots of owners are worried about dog thefts, while I know many women feel uncomfortable walking their dogs alone.

“So my husband and I came up with the idea of creating the park. The kids came on board and helped us set it all up.

“We’ve got the agility equipment and we’ve created a shelter for the owners to stand under if it rains.

“Owners can book a slot online, they then receive a code to unlock the gate, and the parking is fully secure too. For social distancing reasons it’s one household at a time.

“We’ve been absolutely overwhelmed by the response so far, it’s clearly very popular. I think we may even expand to a second field so we can accommodate more dog walkers.”

It’ll set you back £10 for up to two dogs, with any additional dogs costing £3 each – you can find more info and book here, or keep up to date on their Facebook here.
