Piers Morgan has vowed to get the new Covid vaccine on live TV, and calls for anti-vaxxers to be banned from getting NHS treatment.

In a bid to prove the safety of the vaccine, Piers Morgan promised to get the Covid vaccine on live TV while presenting the ITV show Good Morning Britain today.

He has also called for people who refuse to take the vaccine to be banned from flying to other countries and from receiving NHS care.

He tweeted on Tuesday: “To all the anti-vaxxer Covidiots predictably now screaming that they won’t have the jab, let me say this: a) If it’s approved then I will have it done live on TV.

“b) If you refuse to have it then no more flying for you, and no using the NHS if you get covid. Deal?”

The news of the vaccine came this week after Pfizer, a pharmaceutical company, announced a 90% efficacy when testing their vaccine on a group of around 40,000 people.

The news sparked a debate on GMB on Wednesday and Piers reiterated his remarks from Twitter a day earlier.

He said: “I say if you don’t want to have it, fine, but you’re not allowed to fly, because why should other countries take you if you haven’t had the vaccine?

“And I would go further and say actually, if you sign a waiver that if you don’t have the vaccine, you don’t get NHS treatment – job done.”

He added: “Not mandatory, but you’ve got to really think about it hard.”

Dr Hilary Jones said the vaccine would not be approved for mass rollouts unless it was safe. He added that making vaccination compulsory by law would not happen as vaccinating someone against their will is legally assault.

He said: “I trust those people who have done all the trials in six different countries, on tens of thousands of people, to show me, along with the regulator, that it’s not just effective – it is safe.”

Wil you be getting the vaccine when it becomes available?
