In some more good news featuring local legend Peter Kay, his Car Share series is returning for a special one-off episode.

The Bolton Comedian is bringing it back to help lift people’s spirits in these difficult times, with Peter reuniting with co-star Sian Gibson and show writer Paul Cole ‘via t’internet’.

The special episode will be audio only, and will drop on BBC iPlayer this Friday.

Peter took to Twitter this afternoon, Wednesday April 8th, to both announce the news and remind people that they should be staying indoors during lockdown.

He wrote: “Car Share Returns With A Special Audio Only Episode @Sianygibby @PColemanchester and myself got together via t’internet and wrote a new short episode in an effort to try cheer people up. It’s on @BBCiPlayer on Good Friday 10th April. Enjoy and #StayHomeSaveLives”

It comes after the news this morning that Peter is returning to our TV screens for a special coronavirus charity show this month.

Alongside a host of other British celebrities, Peter will return to TV for the first time in years to fundraise money to help those affected by Covid-19.

Comic Relief and Children In Need have joined forces for the one-off charity special, which will be called The Big Night In, Sky News reports.

It will feature celebrity appearances, giveaways and live performances from musicians in their homes.

The Bolton comedian will be joined by a load of other celebs for the three hour show, including Gary Barlow, Catherine Tate and Lenny Henry.

Comic Relief legend Lenny Henry promised a ‘fantastic night to cheer people up in this terrible crisis’.

He added: “And if people of course want to donate they can give a bit of money to help all of the vulnerable, smaller charities across the country who work with people of any age and any background who need it.

“And even if you can’t donate just watch, it’ll cheer you up.”

The Big Night In will be broadcast on BBC One on April 23rd at 7pm.
