‘Paddington 3’ is finally set to start filming this summer after a slight delay — relax, it’s happening!

The filming of the ‘threequel’, reportedly titled Paddington in Peru, has been in the works for some time. Shooting will commence this summer after it was announced in 2021 that filming for it was due to start in 2022 but got pushed back.

The further adventures of the iconic bear, created by author Michael Bond, will be filmed in the locations of London and Peru. Fans became a little concerned when Paddington’s voice actor Ben Whishaw said, just as recently as February, that he wasn’t sure if the movie was ‘happening’ as things had gone a little ‘silent’.

The last time we saw our beloved Paddington Bear was when he made an appearance at the late Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee last June.

After sightings of him have been scarce, this latest update is sure to bring some cheer as we can expect a marmalade sandwich date with our very British bear sometime soon.

According to Deadline, Paddington 3 is set to commence filming on July 24th, 2023. With the title Paddington In Peru, it will see Paddington Bear return to the country of his birth, six years on from Paddington 2.

More details on the film’s plot are still a bit in the vague side, but it has been confirmed that Dougal Wilson will be on directing duties for the picture.

The story is courtesy of Paddington 1 and 2 collaborators Paul King, Simon Farnaby and Mark Burton, with a screenplay by Burton, Jon Foster and James Lamont.

While there is still no firm release date for Paddington 3, fans will no doubt be whipping out their blue coats and red hats to celebrate the confirmation of Michael Bond’s best loved character returning to our screens sometime soon.
