After fans went wild for Fool Me Once, Netflix has announced that a further two Harlan Coben novels are to be adapted into limited series.
Hot off the back of the successful Fool Me Once – starring Michelle Keegan and Richard Armitage – Missing You and Run Away will be the ninth and 10th Netflix adaptations to be produced from the bestselling author, through his ongoing partnership with the streaming platform.
Fool Me Once landed on screens on New Year’s Day and had everyone binge watching the gripping thriller while nursing their hangovers before heading back to work.
The eight-part series amassed 61M views globally in its first two weeks, reaching the Top 10 in 91 countries worldwide.
Coben took to X (formerly Twitter) to thank fans for tuning in as he wrote in a caption: “On set of FOOL ME ONCE with ‘Maya Stern’ @michkeegan. We had a blast making this series. Thanks for watching. @netflix.”
He posted the tweet alongside a photograph of him and lead actress Michelle Keegan, as she was dressed in one of Maya’s many lusted-after coats, while on set.
Filming for Missing You is set to commence in the UK in spring 2024 – in which detective Kat Donovan is drawn in by a sinister dating profile, which could be connected in some way to her father’s mysterious death.
The plot synopsis reads: “Eleven years ago Detective Kat Donovan’s fiancé Josh – the love of her life – disappeared and she’s never heard from him since.
“Now, swiping profiles on a dating app, she suddenly sees his face and her world explodes all over again.
“Josh’s reappearance will force her to dive back into the mystery surrounding her father’s murder and uncover long-buried secrets from her past.”
Stay Close co-writer Victoria Asare-Archer will adapt this Coben thriller.
Meanwhile, Fool Me Once’s Danny Brocklehurst will adapt Run Away, which sees a man’s seemingly perfect life thrown into chaos when his eldest daughter goes missing, only to resurface high on drugs in a public park.
The synopsis reads: “Simon had the perfect life: loving wife and kids, great job, beautiful home. But then his eldest daughter Paige ran away and everything fell apart.
“So now when he finds her, vulnerable and strung out on drugs in a city park, he finally has the chance to bring his little girl home.
“But it turns out she’s not alone and an argument escalates into shocking violence that will shatter Simon’s life all over again.
“His search for his daughter will take him into a dangerous underworld, revealing deep secrets that could tear his family apart forever.
Quay Street Productions will work alongside Coben on both productions with casting to be announced in due course.
