Gogglebox has been hit with more than 140 Ofcom complaints over a ‘disturbing’ scene involving a woman and a duck.
Stars of the Channel 4 reality show – which doesn’t usually make for controversial viewing – were left shellshocked after watching an episode of Apple TV+’s Roar, a feminist anthology series based on short stories by Cecila Ahern.
The episode in question, titled The Woman Who Was Fed By a Duck, centres around domestic abuse, telling the story of Elisa (Merritt Wever) who falls for an abusive duck called Larry.
However, the strangest part of the episode is when the pair become intimate after Elisa was somehow seduced by the bird.
The Gogglebox stars reacted to the scene appropriately, with many gasping in horror and questioning what they had just watched.
Show favourite Giles questioned the mechanics of the scene to his wife Mary, saying: “The duck can’t physically…” before Mary pointed out: “Well he can Nutty, he can use his beak…”.

Dave and Shirley, on the other hand, sat and looked completely dumbfounded, with Shirley quipping: “Oh you’re joking…”.
Though siblings Pete and Sophie managed to laugh over the scene, with Pete emphasising Sophie’s comment that the woman was undressing ‘seDUCKtively’.
And it seems it wasn’t only the Gogglebox stars who were unimpressed with the episode, with media watchdog Ofcom since confirming that 149 people reached out to complain.
In a statement to The Sun, it said the Gogglebox complaints ‘related to clips from Apple TV’s Roar’.
People also took to Twitter to express their disgust over the scene, with one person writing: “I’m not easily offended but last nights ‘duck thing’ was the most desperate attempt to shock… VERY bad taste.”
Another commented: “Last nights gogglebox has literally just traumatised me… The Roar show with the duck… Wow sure that’s illegal.”
