Scrooges, look away now: A free TV channel showing constant Christmas films around the clock will be launching next week.

Despite there being over three months left until the big day is upon us, GREAT! Movies Christmas has decided to get into the spirit earlier than ever this year with twenty-four-hour showings of all the Christmas classics.

While it usually arrives at the end of September, the channel will this year be gracing our screens next week on Thursday, September 8th.

GREAT! Christmas Movies is completely free to access, and will be showing a heartwarming lineup of all the festive classics, as well as a line up of exclusive channel premieres such as ‘The Mistletoe Promise, ‘A Taste of Christmas’, ‘Christmas Cupcakes’ and ‘Welcome to Christmas’.

And alongside a ‘sparkling lineup of Yuletide delights’, there will also be themed days such as ‘A Romantic Christmas’ and ‘Santa Sunday’.

GREAT! Movies Christmas will be temporarily replacing GREAT! Movies Classic, and will be free to watch on Freeview 52, Sky 319, Virgin 424, and Freesat 303.

And if you’re still convinced that September is too early for Yuletide festivities, a pyschologist recently revealed that watching Christmas films is actually good for your health.

The unnamed psychologist studied the impact festive films such as Christmas CarolElfIt’s A Wonderful Life and Home Alone had on people’s health, and said that the movies can help people live ‘longer and healthier’ lives.

They said: “It does create that neurological shift that can produce happiness.

“I think anything that takes us out of our normal habituation, the normal day in, day out, signals our senses, and then our senses measure if it’s pleasing or not. Christmas decorating will spike dopamine, a feel-good hormone.”

GREAT! Movies Christmas will be available from Thursday, September 8th to Monday January 2nd 2023.
