Corrie fans can’t get over the ‘daylight robbery’ of Dev’s expensive sausages this week

Fans were absolutely shocked when they heard the price of Dev’s sausages on an episode of Coronation Street this week. 

Avid watchers of the popular ITV soap didn’t just watch a classic episode of drama-filled neighbourhood action on Coronation Street this week, they witnessed a ‘daylight robbery’ right before their eyes. 

To understand just how much of a blow this was to Steve – the poor bastard who was ripped off by Dev – we need to get a bit of a backstory into what I am now calling Sausage Gate. 

It all began when Nina told Steve she hadn’t had the meat delivery that day in the cafe. I think Steve must have got up on the wrong side of the bed – the side without a cooker – because he was fumin’! 

The man just wanted a big juicy sausage butty! 

Steve was offered veggie alternatives, including a veggie breakfast with ‘beans, tomatoes, mushroom, hashbrowns, egg and two vegan sausages’. 

He was absolutely flabbergasted there was ‘no bacon?!’

When offered a mushroom steak, Steve flipped his lid: “That might be all fair and well for your flippin’ trendy hipster types with the weird beards and sandals BUT I NEED A SAUSAGE DON’T I?”

Anyway off he toddled to Dev’s famous corner shop to grab a packet from the freezer for Nina to cook up for him at the cafe – because a big sausage ‘is the building block of his entire day’.

Everything went from bad to worse when Dev revealed the price of the eight pack of sausages: £5.28!

That comes in at a whopping 66p per sausage, and fans are quite simply unimpressed. Someone needs to call Rip Off Britain. 

“No one tells Steve McDonald that he can’t have a sausage sandwich”, one said. And that’s the end of that.
