The UK is set for a ‘mini-heatwave’ next week, according to the Met Office. The forecaster is predicting warmer weather over Easter, just in time for lockdown restrictions to be eased on Monday, March 29th. After a miserable, freezing winter in lockdown news of warmer weather is very welcome, especially considering we will be able to meet friends and family outside soon. According to weather forecaster WX Charts, most of the country could see temperatures of up to 20C in the lead up to the Easter bank holiday weekend – which is April 2nd-5th this year.

The Met Office also forecasts sunshine continuing into April. Forecaster Simon Partridge said: “It’s been a long and bleak Winter in lockdown, with a mixture of all sorts of weather.
“But as the country takes its next step on the roadmap we’re in for some long-overdue sunshine.
“People will be able to meet up with other households in back gardens and, dare I say it, enjoy a barbecue.”
He added: “Temperatures will be above average for this time of year and that means people will be able to enjoy time outdoors.
“It’s been a long slog but we’ve got a lot to look forward to.”
According to the Met Office, early April is forecast high pressure which will bring hotter than average temperatures.
Forecasters added: “High pressure may spread northwards through early April, which will bring a period of settled conditions for most. “Following this, drier than average and brighter conditions may prevail, with areas away from the far northwest of the country receiving below average rainfall.
“Temperatures will mostly be around average or above, with any cooler periods likely to be short-lived, and mostly across northern areas.”

This news comes as England is set for more lockdown rules being eased, which see an easing on social contact restrictions from next Monday, March 29th. People will be able to meet friends and families outdoors, including in private gardens, with up to six people from different households or a larger group from just two households able to meet up. Outdoor sports facilities like tennis courts and golf courses, as well as open-air swimming pools, can also reopen on this date.
