Tiny London flat with kitchen, washing machine and toilet under the bed is going for more than £800pm

This is mental…

Agents in London are renting a ‘studio flat’ in London where the washing machine, toilet and kitchen are fitted under the bed.

Everyone has heard about ridiculous London flats before, but this might just take the top spot – some people are describing it as worse than a prison cell.

The flat has everything you need including kitchenette, shower, toilet, washing machine, sofa and bed, but it’s all in one small – tiny! – room.

To save space the bed has been turned into what is essentially a bunk bed, although the listing describes it as ‘mezzanine’.

That means you’ll be trotting up and down a ladder to get to bed each night, at least it might keep you young, eh!

The bad news doesn’t stop there, unfortunately. The only-big-enough-for-a-child room comes with a hefty price tag due to its location.

Like most flats in London it is ‘just minutes away’ from a ‘really important tube stop’. In this case it’s Mornington Crescent Station – ever heard of it? Me neither.

The flat is also close to Camden Market and St Pancras Station, which means you can get to Paris pretty easily and escape the prison cell.

The flat doesn’t come with bills included so Zoopla have estimated the total monthly cost at £831. But that doesn’t include council tax – which on average is an additional £1,500 a year – or your food bills either.

The flat has divided the opinions of people online with some people explaining that it’s actually a bargain. One user explains that she doesn’t have ‘a kitchen nor living room’, making Northerners everywhere scratch their head in despair.

On the other side is someone Tweeting a picture of ‘German prison cells’ which are ‘more hospitable than this’.

What do you think, is it actually a clever use of space and a bargain, or is it just plain daft? (I bet you’re all glad you live in Manchester now).

In a plot twist, the listing has now been taken down, so maybe it is a desirable piece of real estate after all…
