A single mum returned from holiday to find her parents had completely transformed her flat for just £50.
Amy Townsend took herself and her two-year-old son Olly for a getaway in Benidorm. While she was away her mum and dad were left in charge of her house, but they decided to give her a huge surprise.
Instead of the usual feed the cat and water the plants, her parents transformed her living room into a relaxing oasis.
She shared the news on social media with the caption: “When I saw my living room had been transformed, I was overwhelmed with joy.”
She added that ‘it was a total surprise’.
Before the makeover, the room was dark and gloomy with just bare plaster decorating the walls.
Her parents worked hard over one weekend, spending just 50 quid in Home Bargains to completely transform the room.
They wallpapered with chequered print which came in at just £5 a roll, and they opted for a yellow and grey colour scheme.
They also painted the fireplace, added curtains and cosy furnishings and accessories to really make a house a home.
Amy added: “While I was away, my mum and dad wallpapered and painted for me!
“It’s made me a lot happier knowing they haven’t spent lots as I look for free things and I shop in charity shops for bits and bobs to add.
“I don’t have a lot seeing as I live alone with my two-year-old so charity shops have to do!”
