Primark has delighted shoppers with the return of its festive shopping bags that double up as Christmas wrapping paper.

The retailer’s staple brown shopping bags now feature a festive red striped pattern, and feature handy cutting lines for them to be used as wrapping paper for the many Christmas presents waiting to be gifted later this year.

The bags even feature cut out shapes to create matching gift tags, too.

Many Primark shoppers have even said the bags are thick enough to be safely used for parcel paper for gifts being sent through the mail.

One happy customer shared her own wrapping efforts onto the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group, where she showed off four neatly wrapped gifts complete with matching gift tags.

The post has since racked up over 6,000 reactions from fellow social media users, most of whom were impressed with the quality of the ‘wrapping paper’.

One person commented: “Blooming tremendous. I’m doing all my Xmas shopping in Primark. Well done Primark”.

Another wrote: “Love this wrap idea. Looks so traditional much nicer than some of that dodgy Xmas paper! Plus recycling so a win win!”.

And a third noted: “What a great idea!! Let’s just hope it doesn’t rain or rip before you get them home…”.

Primark said of the new bags on its website: “Our brown paper shopping bags have had a festive makeover! Featuring classic red candy cane stripes they’ll make the perfect wrapping paper.

“Gift giving is one of our favourite parts of the festive season, grab your scissors and sticky tape because all you’ll need to create seriously stylish wrapping this Christmas is one of our brown paper bags. Simply trim it to fit your gifts.

The retailer added: “If you’re creative and crafty, you could even fold it origami style to create star shaped decorations.”
