Peter Kay is after key workers to star in remake of his Amarillo music video

Peter Kay is recreating his famous Amarillo video for his TV return on the BBC’s Big Night In, and he needs the help of key workers.
That’s right, the Bolton comedian is after NHS staff and other key workers to star in the video – remotely, of course – by sending in clips of themselves ‘stomping along’ to the song.
This comes 15 years after the original version stormed up the charts, as Peter covered Tony Christie’s smash hit (Is This The Way To) Amarillo, to raise money for Comic Relief.
The official Peter Kay Facebook account wrote: “Calling all Peter Kay fans and all you fabulous key workers! Peter is recreating his iconic Comic Relief music video to Tony Christie’s smash hit, ‘(Is This The Way To) Amarillo’ and this time he wants to include you!
“All in aid of the BBC’s Big Night In, Peter wants you stomping along to the original track to show your support for the night of fundraising.
“To be in with a chance of making it into his final video, we’re looking for people to film themselves marching and dancing to the original track (filmed landscape) and to upload the footage onto social media, tagging the clip with #BigNightInAmarillo.
“Then on 23rd April, you may well see your contribution on the live show.”
News broke earlier this month that Peter would be returning to our TV screens for a special coronavirus charity show.
Alongside a host of other British celebrities, Peter will return to TV for the first time in years to fundraise money to help those affected by Covid-19.
Comic Relief and Children In Need have joined forces for the one-off charity special – called The Big Night In – and it will feature celebrity appearances, giveaways and live performances from musicians in their homes.
The Big Night In will be broadcast on BBC One on April 23rd at 7pm.
