Olivia Attwood’s family issue statement following I’m A Celebrity exit

Olivia Attwood’s family have issued a statement following her shock departure from I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here.

Yesterday (Monday November 7th), ITV announced that the Love Island star had been forced to withdraw from the reality show after just twenty-four-hours due to a ‘medical matter’.

A spokesperson said: “As a precautionary measure Olivia needed to leave the jungle to undergo medical checks. Unfortunately, the medical team has advised that it is not safe for Olivia to return to camp as there needs to be further investigation.

“She has been absolutely brilliant and she’ll be very much missed on the show.”

While Olivia is yet to address her reason for leaving the jungle, her family have now issued a statement on her behalf.

Writing on her Instagram Stories, they wrote: “To say Olivia is heartbroken would be an understatement, she dreamed of doing I’m A Celeb for years, and was absolutely loving every second of the show and throwing herself into jungle life feet first (just as we knew she would).

“However, for reasons beyond her control her journey has been cut short. Your support and kind words have meant the absolute world to her, now as much as it always has.”

“You will hear the truth from Olivia in due course and she will back on your screens in the new year.”

Her family then signed off by joking: “Ps who’s going to roast Matt Hancock now?”

During Monday night’s debut episode, viewers watched as Olivia began her journey into the Australian jungle as a VIP alongside radio DJ Chris Moyles.

The pair later found out that VIP actually stood for ‘Very Isolated People’, and would have to spend the night in a separate camp before undergoing a Bush Tucker Trial the following day.

Before she entered the jungle by jumping out of a helicopter, Attwood joked that her ex-boyfriends watching the show – including former Love Island co-star Chris Hughes – would probably want to see her get stuck into the trials.

She said: “I don’t really have that many exes who I’m bad terms with, but all exes will probably want to see me choke on camel’s anus.”
