More than 250k people are going to a Christmas rave at 10 Downing Street
Over 650,000 people have registered their interest in the event
Hundreds of thousands of people have signed up to attend a ‘Christmas rave’ at Number 10 Downing Street.
The Facebook event, scheduled for Christmas Eve, features party plans that are probably all too familiar among senior MPs at Number 10 with a headline slot from ‘BORIS JOHNSON & CHUMS’.
The party’s organiser Jon Mancini has assured attendees that there will be ‘no social distancing required’ and instructed them to ‘bring who you like’ and ‘your own nibbles and drink’… So we can assume there won’t be any complimentary cheese and wine knocking about like there was at last year’s alleged do.
At the time of writing, 266,000 people have signed up to attend the rave, while a further 412,000 have registered their interest in attending.
The event was made in the wake of a damning video showing senior officials laughing about a Christmas party that happened while the rest of the country was under strict Tier 3 restrictions.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson has continuously denied that a Christmas party ever took place, but admitted that he understood the public’s outrage at the clip and that he was ‘furious’ himself during yesterday’s PMQs.
He also said that a full internal investigation would be conducted into what happened, and those found to have acted inappropriately would face consequences.
The video, obtained by ITV News, was shot on December 22nd last year and shows the Prime Minister’s former spokesperson Allegra Stratton joking about a ‘business meeting’ with no social distancing.
Laughing and gesturing to the camera, Stratton says: “This is recorded … This fictional party was a business meeting and it was not socially distanced.”
Another Downing Street employee who was sitting in the audience could also be seen laughing and pointing out that it ‘wasn’t a party… It was cheese and wine.’
Since the footage went viral, people across the nation have been reacting in horror, particularly those from Greater Manchester, who were living under strict Tier 3 restrictions at the time.
