A coach company has accused Manchester United fans of attacking one of its vehicles ahead of last night’s match against Liverpool.

Footage from Old Trafford showed hoards of fans pelting a coach – which they evidently believed to be carrying Liverpool fans – with bottles and cans of beer, all while chanting ‘murderers’ and ‘you scouse b******s’.

However, Manchester-based coach company Beeline VIP Coaches has since revealed the vehicle was theirs, and that it was transporting young United fans to the match.

The children on board were said to be ‘frightened to death’ by the attack.

Beeline VIP Coaches wrote on Twitter: “Many thanks you idiots, we were bringing a group of kids to the game (Manchester United Fans) all were frightened to death) where were the @gmpolice when we needed you to keep the coach and kids safe???”

In a follow-up tweet, the company slammed the fans further by pointing out that their vehicle was clearly labeled as a Manchester-owned vehicle, so shouldn’t have been mistaken as a coach carrying Liverpool fans.

They wrote sarcastically: “Just a shame our coach doesn’t have anything on it showing that it’s from Manchester and therefore would indicate it has Manchester supporters inside!!

“Ohhhhhhhh [sic] hang on a min!!! Maybe they missed it eh.”

While the company are yet to give an official update on the wellbeing of the children on the coach, they replied to one well-wisher saying: “Yeah [we’re] fine. Wouldn’t mind but we had a coach full of kids!”

Tensions were high at Old Trafford last night as thousands of United fans gathered in a protest ahead of the match against the club’s current owners, the unpopular Glazer family.

Despite the protests, however, United went on to win their first match of the season, securing a 2-1 victory over Liverpool.

Proper Manchester has reached out to Beeline VIP Coaches for comment.
