A man from Manchester is doing the city proud with his ambitious mission to collect a single chip from every Wetherspoons pub in the UK.

Now, Boris Bennett has already made quite the name for himself among the online Wetherspoons community in the popular Facebook group ‘Wetherspoons Paltry Chip Count‘, where he posts semi-regular updates on the quality of the chips he receives with his meals in various branches of the popular pub chain.

His most famous accolade is certainly his chip Stonehenge, which he carefully constructed using barbecue sauce in the Potters Wheel Wetherspoons pub in Swansea.

In the post, which has since garnered over 8,000 reactions by amused Wetherspoons fans, he wrote: “Evening all. Potters wheel, Swansea. Got 22 chips today which is mediocre at best, but it was just enough to make a chip Stonehenge, using BBQ dip as glue.”

Revolutionary.

Anyway, his latest Wetherspoons mission has propelled him back to fried potato fame after he revealed he is actually collecting a single chip from each and every pub he visits, with the eventual aim to have one chip from every Wetherspoons in the UK (all 872 of them).

Boris even has a trading cards collection book to slot each singular chip in with a name card for which pub and which location said chip has derived from, which so far includes the Bull’s Head Hotel in Walkden, the Spinning Mule in Bolton, Mardi Gras in the Trafford Centre, the Robert Shaw in Bolton, the Seven Stars in Manchester and the Thomas Burke in Leigh.

He has visited a number of branches across Greater Manchester, so far collecting nine chips for his ‘trading cards collection book’.

Sharing a picture of his little collection book, Boris wrote: “Evening all. You may remember me from such fine works as the stonehenge/chiphenge post ™.

“Today however I bring you this. A healthy 38 chips in the Spinning Mule in Bolton this afternoon. I am currently on a mission to collect and record 1 chip from every Wetherspoons in britain, and here is what i have got so far.

“If you are wondering ‘does that bloke really walk around with a trading cards collection book full of chips?’ The answer is yes, yes I do.”

Of course, Boris’ post was an instant hit among the Wetherspoons community, with thousands of people applauding his efforts. One person wrote: “I think you could be my soul mate” while another commented, “I hope there is an award for such a noble venture.”

However, other Facebook users offered some words of advice, with one clearly organised person saying: “Definitely needs better organisation. Start with an alphabetised empty catalogue with the names of all of the ‘Spoons and then fill them in as you acquire the chips.”

Regardless of Boris’ organisation skills, you’ve got to admire his dedication to the chip cause, so make sure to follow his journey on theWetherspoons Paltry Chip Count Facebook page.
