Man claims to have worked out what the plastic table in takeaway pizza is really for but people aren’t convinced

A TikTok video claiming to reveal what the plastic stool in the middle of a takeaway pizza box is for has gone viral, but not everyone is having it.

Most people haven’t got the foggiest what the tiny table is for, one even thinks it’s a table for Barbie in the comments. Others thought it was used to keep the pizza in one piece when ‘mad bikers drive like they’re fricking Formula 1 drivers’. 

The video that caused the stir, that has now been viewed more than 900,000 times, is captioned: “How old were you when you realised this little thing that comes with your pizza is actually there to stop you touching other slices.”

TikTok user sebweb67 uploaded the video, adding a nifty trick for eating pizza.

He removes the plastic piece and stabs it into the middle of a slice, holding the stool he effortlessly pulls up the piece next to it.

It saves the pizza eater from touching other slices – and potentially other people’s food when you’re sharing a pizza – or getting grease on your fingers.

The majority of the viewers aren’t buying into it though.

One wrote what I think most of us agree with: “It’s to stop the lid hitting the topping.”

Another said: “Lol I always thought it was a table for a Barbie.”

While a third put sebweb in his place saying: “That’s not what it’s for but ok.”

Some users have had their mind blown, one wrote: “age:now”, and another admitted: “I was today years old. I thought it helped keep the pieces together when the mad bikers drive like they’re fricking Formula 1 drivers.”
