Lidl’s iconic £12.99 trainers are coming to UK stores this week for the first time ever

Lidl by Lidl has been making waves across the fashion world since it’s debut last year…

In the wake of the 2021 Met Gala, one of the most fashionable events of the year, budget supermarket Lidl has announced the return of its iconic Lidl trainers.

Perfect timing, if you ask me.

Now, the world went somewhat Lidl mad last year when, in the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, a number of branches in Italy started selling customised Lidl-themed trainers. The shoes came complete with the recognisable Lidl colours – yellow, blue, red and white – and even featured the supermarket’s logo on the tongue.

The supermarket claim the shoes can give a ‘retro feel to any outfit without compromising on comfort,’ and are available in a range of ladies’ and men’s sizes.

The trainers were priced at €13 and, almost instantly, the world descended into total chaos as people fought valiantly to get their hands on a pair. And even when they sold out, the chaos continued online, with people flogging their own pairs for eye watering sums of money; even today, a pair of Lidl trainers can be found on eBay priced at £499.98. Madness.

But, much to the dismay of optimistic (and down right criminal) sellers online, the supermarket is bringing their trainers back at their original price and, even more excitedly, they’ll be landing in UK stores for the first time – for the more reasonable price of £12.99.

The trainers, along with a number of other Lidl inspired clothing as a part of the Lidl by Lidl collection, will be hitting shelves across the country this Thursday, September 16th.

As well as the trainers, the clothing line also includes sports socks – which cost just 99p – men’s swimming shorts and a foldable shopping bag.

Though be warned – every single items is a one-off exclusive, meaning they will not be restocked once they’re sold out (though you’ll probably be able to find them on eBay for an extra couple of hundred quid, if you’re really desperate).
