Maybe Heinz should stick to their baked beans…

Heinz has brought that extra bit of ick to Christmas with the launch of its Christmas dinner in a tin, complete with turkey, roasties, and pigs in blankets.

In something that surprisingly isn’t a publicity stunt, the tinned goods manufacturer has unveiled its Big Soup Christmas Dinner, which consists of all the things you love to see on your plate on the big day – pigs in blankets, ‘big chunks’ of turkey, Brussel sprouts, sage and onion stuffing, roast potatoes, red cabbage, gravy, and cranberry sauce.

Only this time, they’re all crammed into an aluminium tin and will be ready to eat after just a couple of minutes in the microwave.

Beats the hours you’d usually spend slaving over your Christmas dinner, I suppose.

The launch of the controversial soup comes after 42% of people in a survey said they would indulge in the festive meal more often if only it did not take so long to cook, while 36% said it was the cost of the feast that held them back.

And, miraculously, the 500 cans of the limited edition festive Big Soup up for grabs are already completely sold out online, meaning they must be a big hit somewhere.

Heinz Soups brand manager Anke von Hanstein said: “It is made for those with a big love for hearty festive flavours and tastes just perfect with a slice of warm crusty bread.

“Any soup that includes pigs in blankets and roasties is a winner in our eyes.”

And that isn’t all Heinz has lined up for us this Christmas; the company announced last month that it was bringing back its wide range of festive gifts including ketchup crackers, baked beans baubles, a festive jumper and personalised bottles of tomato sauce. Yep, Christmas 2021 is going to be a big one.

The cans are available from today at the Heinz website for just £1.50, plus postage and packing.
