Some good news at last: Greater Manchester is expected to be one of the hottest locations across the whole of the UK this coming weekend.
Now, you’d be forgiven for feeling a little down in the dumps this week, what with England’s crippling loss to Italy in the Euros 2020 finals on Sunday and all that.
National morale is as low as it can be, so there could really be nothing better than a last minute heatwave, could there?

England might not be on the telly anymore, but the sun will definitely be shining down – and even more so on Greater Manchester than the rest of the country.
Yep, this weekend, boroughs across the county will be hotter than prime summer locations in the South like Bournemouth, Brighton and Cornwall.
According to the Met Office, temperatures could reach a sweltering 26°C on Sunday, after highs of 24°C and 25°C on Friday and Saturday, with plenty of sunshine throughout.
Definitely no need for a summer holiday this year, then.

Though I hate to admit that these temperatures don’t even scratch the surface to what other neighbouring countries are experiencing – popular destinations such as Nice and Barcelona are set to experience temperatures of at least 30°C.
However, a gentle reminder to those planning on enjoying the warmer weather at local beaches this weekend has been issued; Samantha Hughes, National Water Safety Partner at the RNLI said: “We want everyone in the UK to enjoy our coastlines safely and being well prepared will help the public avoid being caught out by severe weather conditions.
“The RNLI’s lifeguards and volunteer crews are expecting to be busy this summer with more people staying in the UK for their holidays which is why we wanted to get involved with the WeatherReady campaign.”
