Dogs separated at birth bump into each other on a walk and instantly start hugging

Two dogs who were separated as puppies bumped into each other on a walk and shared a hug.

If you are one of the many people who are blessed to have found a best friend in a dog, I am, like the rest of the dog-less population, incredibly jealous of you. 

It’s pretty normal behaviour for doggos to get excited when they see another furry little friend. Their inquisitive tails will start wagging wondering if this other pup will be a friend or a foe.

Well in this unusual and heartwarming case, the other dog was very much a friend. 

Two cockapoos, Monty and Rosie, were born in the same litter last June and when they bumped into each other recently in the park, they hugged each other as if they had been reunited.

Rosie’s owner Susan Killip told the Dodo: “There were six of them, but Monty and Rosie were always together.” 

Susan added: “It was so lovely, they both just jumped up and hugged each other. It was amazing they remembered each other after 10 months of not seeing each other.”

But we’re not the only ones touched by the reunion. When twitter user Libby shared the reunion her dad messaged her about, the Tweet when viral with over 900,000 likes. 

Susan said the owners are planning on keeping in touch, although it’s ‘a bit difficult at the moment,’ they plan on having ‘doggy walkies together’ when this is all over.

Experts have debated whether it is even possible for dogs to recognise each other like this. Although dogs of the same breed often gravitate towards each other, Tufts University says ‘we’ll probably never know for sure’ if dogs can process a familial connection like this.

It sure does look like they can with that beautiful hug!
