A dad has issued a warning after his baby son was hospitalised after catching coronavirus from him.
Peter Jones took to social media to tell his story, saying that his one-year-old son ended up in hospital after getting ill from the virus.
According to Peter, he brought the virus home with him after a single trip to Tesco, with three of the family recovering well, but sadly that wasn’t the case for his son.
He wrote on Twitter: “My baby boy is in hospital tonight recovering from an infection following coronavirus. We have been in isolation for 3 weeks, I brought the virus home after a single short visit to Tesco, 3 of us recovered fast our 1 yo was less lucky. Please #StayHomeSaveLives & #ThankYouNHS”.
Peter wanted to share his story as a warning for people not to go out, writing that ‘just one trip out can risk it all’. He added: “Please don’t go out! Stay at home, and protect your loved ones! Please share so others can avoid our experience!”
Luckily his son has now got over the worst of the illness and is recovering at home, and Peter was quick to praise the excellent care the NHS provided.
Peter wrote: “After a short stay in hospital our baby boy has recovered quickly with the help of oxygen and AB’s for the infection. He is now recovering at home. A huge thanks to our GP who reacted so quickly & to all @RDEhospitals who looked after him so well.”
While the majority of the country is taking the government’s self-isolation and social distancing guidelines seriously, some are not.
This was on show over the weekend, with the good weather we experienced seeing parks across the country full of social gatherings and people sunbathing.
And according to a recent survey, more than a quarter of people in the UK are not self-isolating or practicing social distancing.
