Cristiano Ronaldo and partner Georgina Rodríguez reveal name for newborn daughter

Cristiano Ronaldo and his partner Georgina Rodríguez have revealed the name for their newborn daughter in a heartwarming social media post.

Last month, the Manchester United footballer and his partner shared the devastating news that their newborn son had died at birth on April 18th. 

Their twin daughter survived and, over the weekend, Georgina shared three photos of the baby sleeping peacefully, alongside her name: Bella Esmeralda.

The couple were flooded with messages of congratulations from friends and fans alike, with the post racking up million of likes.

The couple have been regularly posting updates of their daughter’s progress since her birth last month, with them expressing their gratitude for ‘the life that we’ve just welcomed into this world’.

Posting a photo of the full family together on the day Bella was brought home two weeks ago, the couple wrote: “We want to thank everyone for all the kind words and gestures. Your support is very important and we all felt the love and respect that you have for our family.

“Now it’s time to be grateful for the life that we’ve just welcomed into this world.”

Ronaldo first announced the passing of their newborn twin son on the evening of April 18th, saying the tragedy as the ‘greatest pain that any parent can feel’.

Their statement read: “It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away. It is the greatest paint that any parent can feel. Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness.”

Ronaldo went on to thank the doctors and nurses for ‘all their expert care and support’, before asking for privacy during this ‘very difficult time’. 

The statement concluded: “Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you.”
