The BBC’s drumming weatherman Owain Wyn Evans will be taking on a massive twenty-four hour drumming challenge to raise money for Children In Need.
The Welsh broadcaster, who has become well known and loved for his flamboyant presenting style and, of course, his talent behind a drum kit, will attempt to drum continuously for a whole twenty-four hours at 8.35am on November 12th.
Owain will also be joined by a number of musicians from across the UK throughout his gruelling fundraiser, the BBC has confirmed.
The challenge will be streamed live on BBC iPlayer and will feature across BBC TV channels and Radio stations.
Owain said of his mammoth task: “In preparing for the BBC Breakfast Drumathon I’ve learned first hand how BBC Children In Need helps children and young people across the UK from a range of different backgrounds and identities.
“This is quite literally life-changing and even life-saving stuff. I really hope that together we can raise huge amounts of money for what I think is going to be a monumental challenge. My poor dainty arms!”
Countless people have since expressed their support for Owain, with one person writing: “Good luck Owain. What a ray of sunshine you are.”
Another commented: “Just when you thought you couldn’t love someone any more…”.
The broadcaster shot to viral fame last year when he drummed along to the BBC News theme tune after his weather forecast while working from home during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Owain tweeted the clip from his musical improv, writing: “When they said try working from home I didn’t realise they’d expect me to do the music too.”
Owain will be doing the BBC Breakfast ‘drumathon’ on November 12th. Visit the Children In Need website to donate to the cause.
