Currys have released a less messy and easy to do pancake hack in time for Shrove Tuesday.

If you’re having pancakes for tea tomorrow but you’re not looking forward to the mess involved, and the potential fails, then this TikTok pancake hack might be the best method for you.

Retail giant Currys have posted a video on their TikTok account which shows what they claim to be an easy way to cook the perfect pancake for the national day, on Tuesday February 20th – where homes across the UK will fry and flip batter mixture.

The hack shows someone using an air fryer to cook a whole stack of the fluffy discs rather than the traditional frying pan method — which can lead to some epic pancake fails and utter disappointment on the day.

First things first, you will need an air fryer and then you will need to have your mixture ready to go. Toppings of choice should be on hand to add once your perfect pancakes are ready.

In the video, the person has cut up small sheets of non-stick baking paper and then placed them into the drawer of the air fryer before pouring a small amount of pancake mixture onto each sheet and closing the drawer of the air fryer while the batter cooks.

You can cook more than one pancake at a time if the drawer to your air fryer is deep enough, and you will need to pour a round amount of the mixture onto the centre of the sheet with plenty of room around the edges so that it doesn’t roll off the edge. You will also need to make sure the consistency of the batter isn’t too runny either.

The electronics chain claims this method will give you the perfect pancake every time and will save you on burning your pancake and your frying pan. The clip has since gone viral with hundreds of people commenting on the unusual cooking method.

In disbelief, one person said: “Right, can someone go and try this before I mess up my air fryer, thanks.” Another added: “Too perfect to be real.”

A third sceptic put: “The end result looks shop bought. You don’t get that level of browning with that method.” But a forth insisted: “I’ve done these in the air fryer. Add baking powder and yes, they brown like this.”
