TUI’s latest update provides a lot of hope for those wanting to go on summer holidays, with the travel company saying they might come sooner than initially planned.
Throughout lockdown, travel has been suspended and those with pre-booked holidays have been left wondering if they’ll be able to get a refund or rearrange their trip.
Travel restrictions have started to be lifted, making travel operators a little more hopeful and giving those wanting a summer holiday a glimmer of hope.
TUI has released a customer statement saying it previously planned to restart travel on 1st July, but it is now ‘confident that things will restart soon’.
A spokesperson has stated that the UK market will resume partial operations this summer. She also revealed that UK bookings for winter holidays are up 6% and summer holidays in 2021 look ‘promising’.
TUI has also released a list of safety measures for its hotels, airlines and cruises that they must strictly abide by ahead of reopening.
Boarding on planes will be staggered and everyone will be expected to wear a mask on board a TUI flight.
While many other airlines have stopped offering food TUI are encouraging customers to pre-order food and pay using cards rather than cash.
Hotels are expected to have extra cleaners and meal times will be staggered to limit the number of people in the restaurants at any one times.
Kids clubs will be limited but sports that allow for social distancing such as golf will still be running.
“Based on our current restart dates, we are planning to operate around 30% of our original capacity in Q4 2020”, TUI said in an update.
