Greggs has announced it’s adding yet another vegan alternative to its ever-expanding plant-based menu. This time the popular bakery chain is veganising what in my humble opinion is the greatest pasty of all time – the sausage, bean and cheese melt. Greggs confirmed the news on special media today, announcing that the vegan option would be hitting heated shelves next month.
The company wrote on Twitter: “The Vegan Sausage, Bean, and CheeZe Melt is coming. WARNING, it’s a bit of a mouthful.”
The accompanying video read: “First we gave you the vegan sausage roll. Then the vegan steak bake. And now, another legend has been veganed”. Greggs say the new vegan alternative is fulfilling and tasty, with the same ‘sausagey’ and ‘beany’ flavours as the OG, meat-filled option.
It’s made using plant-based ingredients instead of meat, and cheeze – a dairy substitute which is flavoured like cheddar and mozzarella.
