A viral bakery known for its 24-layer Bruce Bogtrotter cake is set to open up its first Manchester shop in time for the summer.
Leeds-based cake shop and internet sensations Get Baked, famous for its 24-layer Bruce Bogtrotter cake, sweet pies, cake jars, muffins and brownies has confirmed it will be opening a venue in Manchester this year.
The announcement was made in a short post to Instagram and sent the world of confectionary lovers into a frenzy.

Get Baked owner Rich Myers wrote in the post: “Hi Manchester. Guess who’s opening inside you. That’s right.”
Fans immediately jumped to the comments as one person tagged all her friends and said: “omg we need to go the day before it opens, camp outside and buy ALL the Bruces.”
Another cake lover living in Ireland put: “they have flights from shannon!! I think this could actually be realistic now. Fly over and back in a day.”

And a third warned her friend: “PREPARE FOR CAKE DEATH AGAIN.”
In a follow-up post on Instagram, Myers shared a picture of a vacant unit in Manchester outside the Great Northern on Peter Street – hinting at where the new Manchester cakery will be selling all the Bruces to its adoring fans.
The viral cake shop is best known for its towering chocolate cake called the Bruce Bogtrotter – which many believe to be inspired by the best-loved classic film Matilda.
In the film, Bogtrotter – a character created by Roald Dahl – steals a slice of Miss Trunchbull’s cake and is punished by being forced to eat an entire 18-inch chocolate cake in front of the whole school.
However, Myers insists the cake has ‘nothing to do with Matilda’.
The bakery regularly sells out of its Bruces because it is so in demand, and it even does a Biscoff version.
Although an exact opening date for Manchester hasn’t yet been announced, it is expected to be sometime this summer. We’ll keep you posted.
